Jay Robinson is playing the mau5trap hosted stage at Beyond Wonderland 2019, which takes place Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23, at NOS Events Center in Southern California. And while it could be enjoyed in any format, it’s made to annihilate a large sound system. With a rumbling low-end finishing the equation, “Nineteen81” is a huge track that bursts at the seams with vitality. Expanding and contracting the way 303s dramatically do, Robinson constructs epic builds and drops that take the energy to the next level, while staying oceanically deep.

Body-moving percussion gives way to a thick and jagged acid bassline that hits in all the sweet spots.

The release in question is a fiery hot single titled “Nineteen81.” While the track can be summed up by the vocal samples-which include “303s and drum machines” and simply “Acid”-there’s a lot going on here, and it’s all good. “I see deadmau5 as one of the greatest producers of the modern age, so to be working with everyone at mau5trap, and playing Beyond Wonderland in California as part of the team, is a real dream come true for me.” “To me, releasing music on mau5trap always seemed unattainable,” he tells us. All of this is even a lot to take in for Jay Robinson himself.

Now, he’s about to not only drop his first release on deadmau5’s mau5trap label, but also join that label’s hosted stage for a set at Beyond Wonderland SoCal in March. The UK-based producer already has quite the legacy under his belt, from collaborations with AC Slater to back-to-back sets with Laurent Garnier at Le Nuits Sonores in Lyon. Jay Robinson seems to somehow be climbing ever higher.
